About Eneryield
A decade of research. One mission — grids that don't fail.
We are AI and power-systems researchers from Chalmers University of Technology, building the predictive layer for the world's electric grids.
Our story
A research company that ships product
Eneryield began where our founders met in 2017 — in the PhD corridors of Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, where Ebrahim Balouji was applying deep learning to power systems and Karl Bäckström was researching machine-learning algorithms. The insight: most grid faults announce themselves in the waveforms long before they strike — if you have the models to hear them.
Founded in 2019 as a Chalmers spin-out, Eneryield turned that research — physics-informed, peer-reviewed, patented — into IntelliView®, and has been in continuous customer operation since October 2020, when the first deployment went live with ABB at Vaasan Sähköverkko in Finland. The New York Power Authority followed in 2021, on transmission assets.
In 2024, ABB joined as a strategic investor through its Electrification Distribution Solutions division. Today IntelliView® runs in service with utilities and industry — more than twenty deployments, pilots and projects across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia, delivered directly and with partners ABB and EcoPhi.

Backed by the industry we serve
ABB
Strategic investor since May 2024 via ABB Electrification's Distribution Solutions division. ABB chose Eneryield after several successful joint pilot projects.
“The portfolio synergies between ABB and Eneryield will help create one of the most advanced prediction systems for power networks.”
Chalmers Ventures
First investor, with follow-on investments in 2022 and 2024. Eneryield is a portfolio company of the venture builder of Chalmers University of Technology.
“Eneryield is a great example of how deep tech solutions can successfully spin out from research.”
Vinnova
Supported by Sweden's innovation agency through the Innovativa Startups program for pilot deployments and IP strategy.
